Interview with Amanda French Part 1

Rico:
What's Your Name?

Amanda French :

Rico:
List your shop(s) -

Amanda French :

Made By Manders

My shops name is Made By Manders. I chose the name for a few reasons. Manders is my nickname lovingly given to me by my partner. Also, I liked the way the words flowed together. My artwork is a mixture of photography and digital artwork. The photography tends to be more focused on nature but it isn't completely limited to it. My drawings range from 70's inspired cartoons to the more cute and happy Kawaii style.

Rico:
How did you find Zazzle?

Amanda French :
I found Zazzle by accident while looking around online one day.

Rico:
How long have you been at Zazzle?

Amanda French :
I've been on Zazzle for about a year now. My how time flies!

Rico:
Are you a ProSeller?
If yes, how long from the time you open a shop until you made it to ProSeller?

Amanda French :
I'm not a ProSeller yet but its a definite goal of mine to work towards.

Rico:
What made you decide to open your own store?

Amanda French :
The encouragement of friends is what finally helped me to take the leap and put my art and photography out there for sale.

Rico:
What makes your shop stand out from the rest?

Amanda French :
I think my shop is unique because I have a variety of items that can call to your love of nature and then turn around and invoke your inner child.

Rico:
How would you describe your design style?

Amanda French :
The best way I can describe my artistic style is to say its always changing and growing. I love too many things to settle for just one style. Besides, where would be the fun in that!?!

Rico:
What type of product do you prefer to design?

Amanda French :
I don't really have a favorite item I like to design for. I am more about what my design looks best on when I'm making the items ready for sale.

Rico:
What's the best advise you got when you were starting out?

Amanda French :
The best advice I got when I started out was to be patient, use plenty of descriptive tags, and to make sure to get my store out there by using social networks.

Rico:
What was your first Sale (include link)?

Amanda French :

My first sale was my "Retro Sleepy Woman" design on an iPhone 4 case. I cant describe how happy I was.

Retro Sleepy Woman iPhone 4 Cover

This retro inspired woman doesn't care much for mornings. I really loved drawing this and I hope you like it just as much as I do.

Rico:
What medium/tools do you use to create your designs?

Amanda French :
For my drawings I usually do a rough sketch on paper with a pencil then I finish it on my iPad 2. As for my photography, I use a simple point and shoot camera and edit the photos on my laptop. My goal is to be able to afford a really good camera someday!

Rico:
A few of my Favorite designs from Made By Manders :

Retro Sleepy Man Plaques

This guy is not a morning person at all. Even the sunshine on his cup cant make him smile. I really loved drawing this and I hope you like it! Enjoy and happy shopping!

Barbedwire Urban Art Gallery Wrapped Canvas

I found this random pole with barbedwire twisted around it one day and I loved the way it flowed so I decided to take a picture. I played around with editing and this was the end result. I hope you like this touch of random and unexpected urban art as much as I do!

Trees Winter Slumber Tiles

Manipulated photo created to capture the inner reflection of a tree during the winter months. A lesson in patience can be learned from this most majestic tree. We need to take time to pause and reflect on things so we can grow and blossom from the lessons we've learned. I hope you like this!

Retro TV and Commercial iPhone 5 Case

Lets take a trip back in time with this fun design. A cute little retro tv is showing the movie time commercial with the catchy tune "Lets all go to the lobby!" I swear I had this stuck in my head for days after drawing this lol. I hope you like this design!
